It’s been a while since I posted any news. Not because there hasn’t been any, but because I have been so busy.

I finished modifying my armor to be more screen accurate. I have most of the pieces I need for my pack, but the main boxes are still a no-show, so I can’t get started assembling it.

I finished work on my DLT-19. It looks pretty sweet now.

I went and opened my big mouth at a garrison meeting and ended up as the new Garrison Web Liaison. The first big job was moving the Midwest Garrison website over, since I am now hosting it.

Wizard World Chicago is next week, I’m looking forward to that.

I have been getting seriously ticked off at my FX kit shoulder blades, so I made some changes and thought I’d share them in case others wanted to make similar changes. The FX Kit has ridiculously wide shoulder bells. Much wider than the ‘real’ ones. And they keep snagging on my shoulder pouches of my TD suit. It was time for a change.
I went out and got a Black & Decker Heat Pro Deluxe heat gun as it has a temperature range of 100° F to 1100° F. I then heated the shoulder bells (carefully!) using the high speed and with the temperature control just above the middle setting. It took some time but was worth it. Here’s a flickr photo set.
And here is the before and after:
I think the after looks MUCH better. I know if fits better and is a bit more accurate looking as well. Until I can afford some better armor I can at least get the most out of my FX kit by making little changes that make all the difference in the world to those who, like me, want to be as accurate as they can be.
